Q: What is your full name, the name you wish to go by, and your organizational title at CUR?
A: Janae Douglas | Janae | CUR Coordinator

Q:
Many people have fancy titles that don’t necessarily describe what they do for the organization to its fullest extent. Can you elaborate on what you do for CUR?
A: The CUR coordinator supports the daily operation of the National Office and CUR Community. The coordinator communicates and engages with the CUR community daily by providing a professional and welcoming experience. Also collaborates and provides support for departments within the National Office.

Q: What is one thing that most people wouldn't know about you?
A:
One thing most people wouldn’t know about me is that I have been interested in mortuary science since I was a teenager. I wanted to study mortuary science and work at a funeral home to gain experience until I eventually opened my own.

Q: Where did you go to school?
A: I obtained my bachelor's in psychology from Bowie State University and I am currently in a master's program at American University, who both happen to be members of CUR.

Q: Do you prefer tea or coffee and why?
A: I don’t think I can decide; I love both and drink them at different times of the day. I drink a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy both hot and iced coffee. I enjoy drinking tea at night especially if I ate something spicy that day. Spicy foods sometimes give me heartburn. I looked up how to get rid of it naturally and learned that chamomile tea will help! A tip for the spicy food lovers out there.

Q: Were you involved in undergraduate research when you were in school or elsewhere?
A: Yes, I was involved in undergraduate research at Bowie State University (BSU). I majored in psychology which involves a lot of research. I was a research assistant my junior and senior years for the psychology department at BSU.

Q: COVID-19 and being completely virtual has had a major impact on many in the US. Are there any positives you have found about being virtual; things that you have learned; new hobbies you have picked up; or something that you wouldn’t normally do if the world was pre-COVID?
A: I would say the most positive outcome of being virtual is spending more time with my 5-year-old son. While it is a challenge balancing work and parenting, I can spend more time with him and watch his development closely every day.
